Whether you are a family, a group, a single traveller, or a couple, we have accommodation to suit.
When you think of Wānaka in winter, you likely think of skiing and snowboarding. While that is certainly what draws most people to our wee paradise in the South, we are fortunate here to be able to enjoy multiple activities during winter. The snow generally sticks to the mountains, and we are often blessed with cool, calm, sunny days. If snow sports are not for you, you can bike, golf, hike and if the weather allows, enjoy the lake on a kayak/paddleboard/boat. If a more relaxed day appeals to you, then Wānaka’s many eateries, visitor attractions and shopping options give you plenty to fill a day in town.
If you are here for the snow, there are three amazing mountains to choose from in the area. Each offers something slightly different – Treble Cone is best suited to more experienced skiers or boarders with its steeper terrain, Cardrona is family-friendly and perfect for learners, and Snow Farm is for those who love cross country skiing. If you are looking for a more laid-back, less commercial snow experience, then Ohau Snow Fields is only an hour and a half’s drive away – very do-able as a day trip to explore more of the area.
